Well, maybe happy is a little strong - because if you're here it probably means you've been struggling for quite some time.

I don't know your story yet, but I can tell you I've been in your shoes and I'm acutely aware of how much it SUCKS. 

It sucks to feel like you've thrown everything but the kitchen sink at your problems and nothing has worked (even if it worked in the past).

To feel dismissed by doctors and labs that tell you everything is 'normal' when you feel anything but. 

To feel like your body has betrayed you.

And so for that I'm sorry you're here. But I'm glad you found me! Because if there's one thing you should know it's that I am relentless when it comes to getting you the answers and relief you've been looking for.

I know you're here to see what functional nutrition coaching is all about so I won't take up too much of your time with my story. (You can read my health saga here if you're interested.)

But I do want you to know that when I say I've walked a mile in your shoes, I mean it.

Over the past 20 years I've dealt with cystic acne, stubborn weight, candida, chronic fatigue, hypothyroidism, Hashimoto's (an autoimmune disease of the thyroid), debilitating pms, leaky gut, SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth), h pylori, parasites, and mold. 

And I can tell you, none of my answers or solutions came from the western medical world. 

I was passed from doctor to doctor for years being prescribed medications to mask symptoms (usually exacerbating the root causes).

Finally everything changed in the fall of 2011 when I took things into my own hands and became a nutrition coach.

For years I devoured every bit of information I could on gut health, hormone balance, and root-cause resolution. 

In that time I went from needing 12 hours of sleep to function to literally being called the 'energizer bunny' by my closest friends. 

I went from chronically puffy to lean and toned.

I put my Hashimoto's into remission. 

And I went from cramps so painful they made me throw up to virtually unnoticeable cycles.

I offer 6 core functional tests:

  1. Stress and hormones panel: This test is massively important because when cortisol is high it inhibits everything else we’re trying to do. It inhibits the production of important sex hormones, lowers metabolism, damages our gut and ability to absorb nutrients, hurts our immune system, and raises overall inflammation and oxidative stress making it a high-priority healing opportunity.
  2. Metabolic Wellness Panel: This tests your protein digestion (very important for hormone production and many body processes) which gives us a peak into your digestive capacity overall. It tests your liver health which is particularly important in relation to other tests we run. For example, if your hormones are high because your liver is congested and can’t expel them properly, we could waste a lot of time and money trying to fix your hormones without addressing the root issue. It also is important because if your liver is congested and toxins are released into the bloodstream, your body stores those toxins in fat cells to protect you. This makes weight loss more difficult because your body doesn’t want to burn the fat (and therefore release the toxins). It also tests overall oxidative stress in the body.
  3. GI Map: This is a comprehensive gut panel that will show us the balance of good:bad bacteria, it tests for yeast, worms, viruses, gluten sensitivity, enzyme production, and fat digestion. Our balance of gut bacteria impacts EVERYTHING. They impact our mood due to their effect on the production of serotonin, they impact how we digest and absorb food which can make a drastic difference in our weight, good bacteria produce energy-giving compounds while bad bacteria produce lipopolysaccharides which rob us of energy and inhibit our immune system, they impact our inflammation levels, and can be a huge cause of sugar/carb cravings (the bad bacteria feed on sugar and can signal to your brain to eat more).
  4. Mucosal Barrier Assessment: This one is looking to see if you have leaky gut. When you have leaky gut, it allows toxins and food particles to escape into your bloodstream where they shouldn’t be. This raises cortisol, causes widespread inflammation, taxes the immune system, and can cause tons of food sensitivities. Also when you have leaky gut, your ability to absorb nutrients is compromised. So if we’re eating a healing diet and taking supplements to make progress towards your goals but can’t absorb any of it, it’s like trying to push a boulder uphill.
  5. MRT LEAP Food Sensitivities: Everything we’re doing in regards to your health is pushing the gas pedal towards healing and reaching your goals. Whenever we eat foods we’re unknowingly sensitive to it’s like we’re simultaneously pushing on the breaks. Removing food sensitivities is low-hanging fruit when it comes to your health journey and can leave you feeling significantly better fairly quickly. The MRT is the preferred test because you don't need to have eaten the food to detect the sensitivity (unlike IgG tests), and it covers a wider range of ways in which we can be sensitive unlike other food sensitivity tests. 
  6. Metabolic Typing: This one is a questionnaire and it helps identify what metabolic type you are. This removes all guesswork from figuring out what diet is right for you. It gives you the exact macronutrient ratio that’s optimal for your body as well as a list of foods that are ideal for your body. Eating according to your metabolic type makes healing easier, gives you way more energy, reduces cravings and the need to snack, and aids in weight loss.

Because of all the incredible trainings in the nutrition library, we get to be efficient and get right to the meat of actual coaching during our calls. This allows us to cover everything we need in 30 minutes!

If something is out of scope, I’ll refer you out to a medical professional who I feel would be the best fit in supporting your goals. 

Health and wellness coaching is eligible for reimbursement with flexible spending accounts (FSA), health savings accounts (HSA) and health reimbursement accounts (HRA). For this to happen though you will need a letter of medical necessity from your doctor. 

Same applies for functional labs.

While I always do my best to work around any dietary preferences you have, your labs may call for recommendations that clash with your current habits.

My job is to share this information with you, give you an understanding of why you might consider trying a different approach, and help you implement if you so choose.

But ultimately it's your body, your health, and your choice. 



At the end of the day, a diagnosis (or even just symptoms) are downstream products of upstream problems. 

Your body didn't randomly get sick out of the blue (even if it seems like it did). 

Dysfunction had to happen at a cellular level over the course of months or years before it became a full blown disease.

I don't concern myself with that end result. I work as far upstream as possible to get your body functioning better using diet and lifestyle changes, regardless of what label a doctor has given you.

While I'm happy to give you examples of what to eat for various meals (particularly at the beginning when you may feel stuck or overwhelmed), I tend to stay away from full-blown meal plans.

Why? Because if you give a man a fish you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish you feed him for a lifetime.

My guess is you've probably followed a specific diet or meal plan in the past. And yet here you are.

You've already seen that it works in the moment, but in the long run if you don't learn how to think about food and how to put meals together on your own your results will only last as long as your meal plan does.

Sessions range from $150-$300 per session depending on the package you sign up for. 

During our consultation I'll ask about your goals, struggles, and habits and make a recommendation based on your needs.
